First erotic romance?
February 8th, 2010 by Keira
When I was a young teenager, I borrowed a historical romance by Virginia Henley from my older sister. I think it was The Hawk and the Dove, but I know for sure that it taught me the actual meaning of oral sex! (I thought it was kissing up until that point. So young, so innocent.)
Do you remember the first erotic romance you ever read? Was it an eye-opener?

I grew up on bodice rippers. . Actually my mom used to buy me Harlequins at yard sales, and I eventually graduated to bodice rippers. I know I was reading them in Junior High, probably before that. I can remember reading the smut parts to groups of girls outside the school before they let us in.
I have always been a history buff, so I used to love the historical things I used to learn, and even would check up on the things I could. I can’t say who was my first, but I know I used to love Rebecca Brandewyne.
Ah, I remember reading Rebecca’s books, too!
Having an older sister definitely influenced my reading. I remember reading Flowers in the Attic when I was ten, which horrified my teacher! Heh.
Do you mean The Wolf and the Dove by
Kathleen Woodiwiss? My first bodic ripper was SHANNA by Woodiwiss. I loved that book, though forced seductions horrify me now. I don’t read them nor write them.
The sexiest contemporaries I read were by Harold Robbins, Jackie Collins and others. They were smokin’ hot!
Best–Adele
I agree on the forced seduction thing, Adele. I don’t read or write them now, but they were definitely the rage for the longest time.
Adele, I’m positive it was a Virginia Henley book, although I do recall reading Kathleen later.
Ah yes, the “forced seduction.” It’s amazing the things that used to be considered sexy!
The Flame and the Flower was my first romance. LOL and it was pretty erotic to me. I read a lot of Woodiwiss and Harlequins.
